Georgia Youngs Art
Art instruction

Georgia Youngs’ passion for soft pastels and acrylics has made these the mediums of choice for her paintings as well as her teaching. Her well developed and enthusiastic art classes allow each student to progress at his or her own speed. Classes are well attended with a high ratio of return students. Initially she taught only adults but ten years ago was asked to broaden her talents to teach young children. After careful deliberation and research she developed a unique method of teaching young people. In very short time she discovered she loved teaching young children and they responded in kind.

Georgia currently offers children’s classes after-school and Saturdays at Georgia’s Art School.

Video Lessons

Painting with Georgia offers adult students a series of beautifully-filmed video classes on painting with acrylics. Georgia teaches painting basics in a friendly and informative manner and provides a wealth of information on styles and technique.

Painting with Georgia is a comprehensive online video program that will teach you how to paint with acrylics. The purpose of the videos lessons is to give you a solid foundation in choosing the right supplies, using colour, techniques for achieving realistic effects, and moving from simple structure and composition to realistically detailed finishing touches. The lessons can be purchased individually or in packages. Each video class is approximately 30-35 minutes in duration.

Private Lessons

Another new area in teaching that has opened up for Georgia is the field of private lessons. Georgia was asked and responded in her usual fashion to the demand for helping those who are unable to sign up for group lessons, or felt too insecure in a group class but still wanted to learn how to draw and paint.

In order to help you she takes her skills and talents to your home or you can come to her studio. She can help those who are beginners discover the world of colour and design to those more established artists who need another eye to help them over a difficult time.

Her home programs are based on a minimum of 4 lessons at 2 hours each @ $50 per hour.

Georgia has designed and instructed a variety of programs. She thoroughly enjoys her profession and would welcome the opportunity to be your instructor. To get in touch with Georgia email her at: georgiayoungs@shaw.ca or call her at 604 669 3799.

Another Project: Out Reach Programs

Realizing the lack of art in the schools due to budget cuts Georgia developed an out reach program based on the school curriculum, called Art in the Box. When in Ontario, she successfully approached the Durham and York Region School Boards to have it included in their curriculum for the fall of 2003. After she decided to move back to Vancouver to be nearer her daughter and she left the program with her associate to continue.
